One of my grandmothers lamps I fixed up.

Last week was an exceptionally busy one for me, unfortunately ending in sickness. Hopefully this coming week will be a little more laid-back though.

It's all kind of a blur to recall, but I took a bunch of ibuprofen and helped out at the farmers market again. It was cooler than last time, but still sweltering. Right after that I cleaned up and went to an evening dinner which I forgot about earlier in the week, causing me to also cram in a birthday party all within the same night. So right after the dinner, I sped off to the birthday party and could feel the ibuprofen wearing off, but I managed to hang in there and stayed the night in a camper.

Then the following Sunday morning was church that let out in the afternoon. I was really looking forward to getting back home to rest. Supper that night was a hodgepodge of random left overs in the fridge because I didn't feel like making anything. I called in to work that evening to let them know I wasn't going to make it so that I could recover on Monday and I'm glad I did!

After ironing some work clothes, I went to bed early that night, somewhere around 9PM, and slept in until 9AM the following morning! When I got up, I was feeling pretty groggy with a sore throat, but snapped out of it after breakfast. I spent the morning piddling around the house, then for lunch I had some leftover cheese queso and chips I forgot I had. It's a great lunch to have while being sick!

It was an overcast kind of day and the house was frigid cold from running the AC, which I had to turn down for once. I hadn't stepped foot outside at all until I heard some rumbling noises. Wondering if it was thunder or not, I stepped out onto the front porch and could see the dark clouds of a storm rolling in. This was good news because it's been very dry here these last few months.

It took a little while, but finally it rained!

I'm thankful for it because I've been having to water the vitex and crape myrtle trees myself, which are drought tolerant trees by the way... I recently planted the vitex so for now it does need the extra help.

Also the rain gutter guards I recently installed did their job well in keeping out leaves and twigs because there was no deluge of rain flying over the edge of the roof due to clogged gutters this time! For clarification, I've only installed rain gutters in the back of the house and not yet the front. I'll try to get to the front sometime, but in the meantime it's not so bad since there's foliage to break the fall of the rain unlike the back.

My dog Poochie was not very thrilled with the rain however. He doesn't seem to like water of any kind and refuses to stay in his dog house for any sustained amount of time. Oh well, he needed a shower anyhow...

That evening I made more tacos, but with old partially freezer burned meat that I found in the back of my fridge. They were okay, but certainly not the best.

By evening time, I was feeling much better and recovered. I went to bed early again that night so that I could be well rested for work.

Thanks for reading my blog!
