Tuesday & Wednesday Journal (20260715)
Publish Date: 2026-07-15
I'm going to roll up yesterday and today in this journal post since yesterday was really short.
Yesterday I got up normal week day time for work at 6AM to start the day. I usually like to sit in the bed for a moment before actually getting up since I'm still groggy and not yet fully awake.
It's probably not a good idea since it could risk me going back to sleep, but I've noticed that if I get up too quick, I'll start doing things automatically without thinking about it and forget an hour later what all I did. I've lost my wallet and house keys a number of times doing that.
After 5 minutes, I get up to turn on the lights in my bed room, then the living room, and finally the kitchen.
Outside, it was a dreary day from raining at some point during the night. I like to look up at a radio tower near my house from the kitchen window to gauge how cloudy it is outside. I could see the middle section of it with flashing red lights, but the upper portion was so densely covered I couldn't see it or the the flashing red lights.
I boiled up some Malt-O Meal with a little butter and sugar and had that with a slice of toast and jam on the side. Finished that up then quickly tended to the animals, got dressed, packed a lunch, and headed out to work.
While at work, the day got darker and it rained some more. I spent most of my time reading a book. It preoccupied most of my day, so it's a little difficult to recall what all else I did at work.
When I got back home, I was still preoccupied by my reading and forgot to eat supper. By the time I realized it, it was time for bed, so I had a few wafer cookies and some water.
This morning was a different a routine. Instead of preparing breakfast at home, I decided to buy breakfast tacos in town on my way to work. I usually do this on Monday's instead of Wednesday's, but last Monday I wasn't in the mood.
I left from home early and made it to the office by 8AM, taking my time and enjoying the cool weather. I'm usually in the office by 8:30AM, which is fine. There's rarely ever anything going on in the mornings anyhow, so it was a good slow start to the day with chorizo breakfast tacos and coffee.
My todo list for work today was working on vulnerability findings with Qualys. It picked up on an old version of .NET 6 installed on about 37 computers. I don't know how it got on there, but I've been trying to figure out how to remove it with a remediation script in Intune. Unfortunately .NET run times are installed like malware and difficult to remove unless you use their special removal tool or happen to have the original installer...
It's been an especially rainy day today too, which I'm thankful for. It was getting really dry and my yard was dying. My transplanted butterfly bushes were needing some water too. I've been keeping them watered myself, but a good rain should really help.
I'll be out late tonight after work since it's a worship night at church, which means I'll be eating out for supper. The rainy day has me drowsy though so I'd much rather go back home and turn in early for the night, but these are good nights to visit and socialize with friends at church too so I'm going to push myself to make it. Fortunately tomorrow is a remote work day for me, so I can sleep in at least till 8AM. The late night ride back home though can be pretty difficult to stay awake and there are always animals jumping out in the road I have to avoid too.
I should probably get one of those little deer whistles on my car to scare deer off the road, because they're always out there.
Also since I'll be sticking around town after work, I'm going to see if I can't find a clothes iron and board to buy so I can iron my clothes at home too. Since I was doing my laundry at my parents, I never had a need to buy my own iron and board until now. It wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't already one of those built in ironing boards in the wall of my house long since drywalled over; it was kind of a common feature in houses from back then that mine seems to be missing (or is it?)... There are a few other things I need to pick up while in town too, but they don't immediately come to mind. I have them written down on a sticky note in the car though, so I'm good.
Thanks for reading my blog!
